Louisiana governor calls for 'green government'

Reducing solid waste, establishing fuel-economy goals for state vehicles and adopting "best energy-purchasing practices" are among the mandates laid out in an executive order issued by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. The "Green Government" executive order is aimed at making the state government more environmentally friendly.

Washington state deploys warning sirens along Pacific coastline

To enhance public safety for Washington communities and citizens, the first-phase deployment of warning sirens was recently completed. The sirens are part of an All Hazard Alert Broadcast warning system, made by Federal Signal Corp., based in University Park, Ill.
