GSA Auctions Triple For Federal Personal Property

GSA Auctions celebrates its fourth anniversary this year with 64,000 registered users, whose activities on the online U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Web site accounted for 84.5 percent of all of GSA’s federal surplus personal property sales in 2004. Sales of cars, trucks, motorcycles, aircraft, boats, furniture and other seized goods and federal surplus personal property sold on GSA Auctions in 2004 totaled $32 million, up from $11 million in 2001. GSA Auctions began operations on Jan. 17, 2001.

GSA Auctions offers the public the opportunity to bid electronically on a wide array of Federal assets. The auctions are completely web-enabled, allowing all registered participants to bid on a single item or multiple items (lots) within specified timeframes.

"GSA Auctions saves money on federal warehouse costs and helps citizens, businesses and government agencies find and buy personal property easily on a site they know is credible, safe and exclusive to the federal government,” said Lynne M. Price, GSA Chief of Sales. GSA Auctions performance is consistent with the President’s Management Agenda goals to use technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness and provide citizen-centric services.

Visit GSA Auctions at: www.gsaauctions.gov. Unregistered users may browse the site. Registration is required for bidders.
