Piracy Strategy to Protect Workers and Products
Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans yesterday joined Ambassador Robert Zoellick, Attorney General John Ashcroft, Homeland Security Under Secretary Asa Hutchinson to focus on the Administration's "Strategy Targeting Organized Piracy(STOP)" initiative. The initiative protects American businesses and their products from counterfeiters and pirates who are stealing from America's workers and robbing billions from the U.S. economy.

Historic Preservation Award Goes to Partnership
The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) presented the National Park Service and the Alliance of National Heritage Areas with its prestigious National Trust/ACHP Award for Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation. The two awardees were among 22 national award winners honored by the National Trust at its week-long 2004 National Preservation Conference in Louisville, KY

UPPCC Certification Goes International
The Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) recently made history again by conducting its first ever CPPO Oral Examination telephonically. Special arrangements were made for an Austrian national working in Sierra Leone, West Africa for the United Nations. Lt. Col. Peter Graeml joins the ranks of other Officers in the United States and Canada. Though not a common practice, the Council was able to bring together three other Certified Officers for this one of a kind opportunity in a creative manner to advance the professional development of Graeml while he is stationed in a foreign country. France to Privatize Paris Airport Operator
France's transport minister presented a bill to transform Aeroports de Paris (ADP) into a public limited company, paving the way for a partial privatization of the Paris airport operator as soon as 2005
. Transport Minister Gilles de Robien also reaffirmed that only part of ADP would be sold to the public and the state would retain a majority stake.
ADP manages all the civil airports and airfields within a 50 km (30 mile) radius of Paris and ADP Chairman Pierre Graff has targeted a share offering for next year.
"The state will keep the majority, and as for the provincial airports it will be the managers who decide with the government the opening (to private ownership) and the importance of this opening for each of the airports," de Robien said after leaving the cabinet meeting of ministers where he presented the bill.
The bill includes a second section about the management of major regional airports, which also will be turned into companies whose capital can be opened to public or private partners. The big regional airports which include Nice and Marseille are now run by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Source: airwise.com.

France's transport minister presented a bill to transform Aeroports de Paris (ADP) into a public limited company, paving the way for a partial privatization of the Paris airport operator as soon as 2005
